Elmswell

Pictures of buildings mentioned in the second edition “Suffolk” volume of “The Buildings of England” series by Sir Nikolaus Pevsner.

Pevsner’s entries for Elmswell (Pages 198/9) are the Church, the Almshouses and a Romano-British kiln. Only the Almshouses are shown here. Of them, Pevsner says “Founded by Sir Robert Gardener. Dated 1614. Red brick, one-storeyed, with a steep central gable. Five doorways, four groups of chimneys. The windows are of two lights with an architrave over.”
